Bangladesh Railway has announced the suspension of five local, mail and commuter trains running at night to avoid sabotage and considering safety concerns.
The trains those have been closed are one pair of commuter trains plying on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route, one pair of local trains on the Ishwardi-Rajshahi-Rohanpur route, one pair of mail trains on the Rajshahi-Parbatipur route and Mymensingh-Bhuapur local trains.
Besides, the inter-city Yamuna route running between Dhaka-Tarakanda has been shortened. The train is running between Dhaka and Jamalpur from December 15.
Masud Sarwar, manager of Kamalapur Railway Station, said that the train on the Rajshahi-Parbatipur route will be stopped on Friday.
The remaining trains are closed from December 16. He also said that such a decision has been taken considering the prevailing risk of sabotage.
