A total of 69 vacation judges have been appointed in districts and metropolitan areas across the country to
conduct civil proceedings of the lower courts during the civil court vacation from December 2-31.
According to the order of the President, the Ministry of Law issued two separate notifications in this regard on November 26 and November 28.
The notifications said that, in consultation with the Supreme Court, during the civil court vacation in December 2023, the judges mentioned by the judicial service in the respective districts (including Ses-sions Judge Court, Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court, Nari O Shishu Nirjatan Daman Tribunal, Special Judge Court, Environment Appeal Court, Special Tribunals of Securities and Exchange Commission, Public Safety Crime Prevention Tribunal, Cyber Tribunal and Prevention and suppression of Human Trafficking Crime tribunals) vacation judges are appointed to receive urgent civil and criminal cases and to hear and dispose of urgent matters arising.
However, the notification stated that the vacation Judges can dispose of all criminal applications and cases except for revision petitions under section 435 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
Besides, it is mentioned in the notification that the vacation judges will be able to conduct the proceed-ings of the children’s court formed under the Children’s Act.
