Some betrayers board Awami League’s election train: BNP

Staff Reporter:

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that some betrayers and individuals isolated from mass people, joined the ruling Awami League to hold another farcical election in the country.

Rizvi made the remarks hours after Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said that the election train had started its journey and would not wait for anyone until it reached its destination.

Coming down heavily on Quader for such remarks, Rizvi said, “Some betrayers, enemies of the nation and individuals isolated from mass people, have boarded Awami League’s election train.”

Citing oblique references to the 2014 and 2018 farcical elections, Rizvi said Sheikh Hasina is heading towards staging a vote-robbing spree in the country, stamping down the desire of all pro-democratic and peace-loving people at home and abroad.

He said that the international communities including the United Nations, Europe and America are sure that another stage-managed election is going to be held in Bangladesh under the Hasina-led administration.

The UN has already clarified its stance of not sending observers to oversee the Bangladesh election and other democratic countries have lost their eagerness in this regard, said the BNP leader.

“We, the countrymen, believe that good sense would prevail upon Sheikh Hasina and she would stay aside from the path of holding a farcical election. Otherwise, BNP men will not allow the election train to reach its destination,” he said.
