President Mohammed Shahabuddin yesterday asked the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (OCAG), the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Bangladesh, to ensure transparency and accountability in expending any public money.
The President came up with the call when Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Md Nurul Is-lam paid a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.
“Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of rapid development . . . So the government expendi-ture has increased several times compared to earlier,” President’s Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told .
The Head of State also put emphasis on playing the role of ‘watchdog’ to ensure appropriate use of public funds.
During the meeting, the President was apprised by the CAG about the overall activities in his of-fice.
Besides, the CAG also informed the President about the measures taken to ensure a speedy settle-ment of audit objections.
The President was told by Nurul Islam about the steps taken to simplify the pension system.
Secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban were present on the occasion.
