Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud on Saturday said BNP went into hiding and they call movement and blockade from hidden place.
“BNP’s blockade means arson terrorism and torching people alive. They must be resisted,” he told a public rally of AL’s Maheshkhali Upazila unit at Matarbari in the district.
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina addressed the meeting as the chief guest.
Highlighting massive developments taken place during the AL government’s tenure, he said Cox’s Bazar rail link, iconic Cox’s Bazar station and Matarbari deep seaport channel have been inaugurated.
When Bangladesh is marching ahead, BNP has gone crazy, the minister
said.
Hasan said a police member was killed brutally while over 100 police personnel were injured in attacks carried out by BNP on October 28.
Later, the BNP activist fled the scene and now went into hiding, he mentioned.
In the name of programme, BNP torches vehicles and hurls bombs on people as they are enemy of the state and the nation and society, Hasan said.
The minister said Sheikh Hasina not only makes promises but also meets her promises.
Around 140 years back, a survey was conducted to build railway line up to Cox’s Bazar but the survey never saw the light, he said adding that now Bangabandhu’s daughter translated the dream into reality.
The people of Cox’s Bazar never imagined that they would get such a beautiful railway station here and it will connect the capital Dhaka via Chattogram, said Hasan.
Matarbari deep seaport is also a massive project which was beyond imagination of the people of this area, he said.
No other governments made developments to such extent in the area, said Hasan.
The information minister sought votes in favor of ‘boat’, AL’s election symbol, in the next general election to continue the current development spree.
