Information and Broadcasting Minister Barrister Andaleeve Rahman yesterday said there is no scope for the Awami League to return to politics by denying the July events.
“The July uprising must be acknowledged, an apology must be made, and the issue of bringing those involved to justice must also be addressed; people will then consider how much opportunity the Awami League should be given to return to politics,” he said.
He said this while responding to questions from journalists after visiting various areas of the upazila tonight.
The minister said the younger generation had witnessed the political narrative developed by the Awami League over the past 17 years and the events of 2024.
“Many people aged between 15 and 35 had been involved in those events, either on the streets or through social media. Therefore, it will be difficult for the Awami League to make a political comeback merely by developing a new narrative,” he said.
Leaders and activists of the district unit of the Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) and its affiliated organisations were present during the visit.
