Teachers should take timely plans to restrain students from drugs: Asaduzzaman

Staff Reporter :
Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman today urged teachers to take timely and well-planned decisions to keep the present generation away from drugs and guide them towards the right path.

“It is becoming increasingly difficult for teachers to manage the current generation, while students’ inclination towards drugs is growing. To address the situation, students must be given fresh consideration and effective initiatives suited to their needs should be taken,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting with local teachers and journalists as the chief guest at the Shailkupa Upazila BNP office in the district.

He said it is essential to keep students away from drugs and ensure a proper educational environment.

“To this end, teachers must play their roles responsibly and take planned steps considering the needs and realities of the current generation,” said Asaduzzaman.

Expressing a firm stance against irregularities in recruitment and management at educational institutions, he said no one would be spared if financial transactions take place in recruitment at any institution.

The minister also said it is unacceptable for a chairman of a school management committee to behave rudely towards the head teacher.

He said it would also be intolerable if teachers disrupt the educational environment for students or became involved in wrongdoing. Everyone concerned should behave responsibly to maintain a healthy environment at educational institutions, he added.

Emphasising the responsibility of political leadership in preventing corruption, Asaduzzaman said political leaders and party activists must first make themselves corruption-free to stop corruption.

Those who speak about ending corruption must reflect that commitment in their own conduct; otherwise, efforts to prevent corruption would fail, he added.

Shailkupa Upazila BNP President Abul Hossain, General Secretary Humayun Babar Firoz, teachers from private schools, colleges and madrasas in the upazila, and journalists from various print and electronic media attended the views-exchange meeting.
