AL brings out rally against blockade

Awami League (AL) and its associate bodies yesterday brought out protest processions and rallies in different areas of the city against the BNP-Jamaat’s 48-hour blockade.
Dhaka city south unit of AL, Awami Jubo League of Dhaka-8 constituency, Awami Swechchha-sebak League, Jatiya Shramik League and other associate bodies of the party brought out protest procession and rally in front of the central office of AL in Bangabandhu Avenue. The procession paraded different streets.
AL Presidium Member Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram, Dhaka city AL president Abu Ahmed Mannafi and its general secretary Humayun Kabir, Dhaka city AL former general sec-retary Shah-e-Alam Murad, joint general secretaries – Mohiuddin Ahmed Mohi and Morshed Kamal, Swechchhasebak League president Gazi Mesbahul Hossain Sachu and its general secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu, Jubo League’s Dhaka south vice president Sohorab Hossain Shapon and senior leaders as well as activists attended the rally.
Earlier, AL General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader urged the party leaders and activists to stay alert on the streets against the nationwide blockade enforced by BNP and Jamaat.
Dhaka city north unit of AL leaders and activists, directed by its president Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and its general secretary S.M. Mannan Kochi, brought out protest procession in the city’s different areas.
Protest processions and rallies were also brought out in the city’s different areas, including Demra, Jatrabari, Farmgate, Mirpur, Gabtoli, Azimpur, Shahbagh, Mirpur, Darussalam and Mohammad-pur.
