Rajshahi: A discussion meeting was held in Rajshahi on the occasion of the 47th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Olama Dal.
The discussion meeting was organized yesterday at the Shilpakala Academy auditorium under the initia-tive of the Rajshahi Metropolitan and District branches of Olama Dal.
At the end of the meeting, prayers and munajat were offered seeking forgiveness for the departed souls of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Deshnetri late Begum Khaleda Zia and praying for the good health of the current Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and for the welfare of the country and the nation.
The meeting was addressed by Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, as the chief guest.
Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and General Secretary of Mahanagar BNP, spoke as special guest.
The meeting was presided over by Maulana Taj Uddin Khan, convener of Rajshahi District Olama Dal while Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon, MP, spoke as chief speaker.
Professor Nazrul Islam Mondal, MP, former mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul, President of Rajshahi Mahanagar BNP Mamun Or Rashid, Administrator of Rajshahi Zila Pari-shad Advocate Ershad Ali Isha, among others, were present.
Mahanagar BNP Senior Vice-President Nazrul Huda, Mahanagar Jubodal Convener Shariful Islam Jony and others also spoke.
The programme began with recitation from the Holy Quran and performance of Islamic songs.
Later, Maulana Md. Taj Uddin Khan delivered the welcome address as chair.
On the occasion of the anniversary, the party speech was delivered by Kazi Md. Nurul Alam, member secretary of Rajshahi District Olama Dal.
Leaders of Olama Dal from different upazilas of Rajshahi district were present at the meeting.
