An individual named Md Abdullah, 33, also an accused in Joj Mia murder case, gave a confessional statement before a Dhaka court on Friday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Siddiq Azad recorded his statement and ordered that he be sent to jail, said Prosecution Sub-Inspector Marufuzzaman.
Earlier, Investigating Officer and Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Ershad Ali produced Abdullah before the court and pleaded to record the statement after he expressed his willingness to voluntarily make a confessional statement.
According to the petition, the victim, Joj Mia, 45, was called to a garage in Badda late on 9 September as part of a pre-planned conspiracy stemming from a previous dispute.
There, Abdullah and the other accused, acting in collusion, repeatedly stabbed him with sharp knives, leading to his death.
Later, they allegedly took the body in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw and dumped it in the Jirani canal under the Trimohoni Bridge in Khilgaon in an attempt to conceal the crime before fleeing the scene.
Joj Mia’s wife, Rozina, 38, identified the body at the mortuary of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and filed a murder case with Khilgaon Police Station.
