At least 11 people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strikes in five districts of the country on Thursday.
In Chapainawabganj, six people, including three women, were killed in three upazilas in the afternoon.
The deceased were Abdullah, a resident of Sadar upazila; Mahmuda Akter, Sadia Khatun and Mesbaul of Shibganj upazila; and Sumiara Begum and Hasan Ali of Nachol upazila.
Shibganj police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Motiur Rahman said three people were killed in a lightning strike while collecting mangoes from an orchard near their homes.
Sadar police station OC Ekramul Hossain said Abdullah was seriously injured after being struck by lightning while going to bring cattle from a field during rainfall.
He was later taken to Chapainawabganj District Hospital, where the on-duty physician declared him dead.
Nachol police station OC Shukomol Chandra Debnath confirmed two other fatalities.
In Bogura, a teenage boy was killed and his mother was injured in a lightning strike while they were working in a chilli field in Adamdighi upazila.
The incident took place around 6pm.
The deceased was Rabbi Hossain, 15, son of Afal Uddin of Tetulia village.
Injured Monika Begum, 38, was admitted to Adamdighi Upazila Health Complex.
Adamdighi police station OC Kamruzzaman Mia confirmed the incident.
In Panchagarh, a labourer was killed after being struck by lightning in Sadar upazila in the evening.
The incident took place at Baniapara around 6pm.
The deceased was Shahadat Hossain, 19, son of Keramat Ali of the same area.
Locals said Shahadat was injured in a lightning strike and taken to Panchagarh General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Sadar police station Inspector (Investigation) Ashish Kumar Shil confirmed the news of the death.
He added that an unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
In Natore, a youth was killed in a lightning strike while bringing cattle from a field in Singra upazila in the evening.
The incident occurred in the Boro Baroihati area.
The deceased was Md Modhu, 24, a resident of the same area.
Singra police station OC Md Rafikul Islam confirmed the fatality.
In Mymensingh, two people, including a college teacher, were killed after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in two upazilas.
The deceased were ASM Khalekul Azad, 56, a math teacher of Gabtoli Degree College in Muktagachha upazila; and Siam, 18, son of Rukun Uddin, a resident of Gafargaon upazila.
Locals and family members said Azad was supervising the construction work of a mosque in the Roghunathpur Rouhar Char Bazar area in Muktagachha upazila.
As rain started with lightning, Azad took shelter under a mango tree nearby. At that time, he was seriously injured by a lightning strike.
He was taken to Muktagachha Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.
In another incident, Siam was struck by lightning while working in an agricultural field at Lamkain village in Gafargaon upazila.
Locals rushed him to Gafargaon Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
