Special train coaches introduced for women passengers during Eid travel

Staff Reporter:

Bangladesh Railway has launched dedicated coaches for women passengers on selected train services ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, following instructions from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

The women-only coaches have been introduced on the Jayantika Express operating between Dhaka and Sylhet and the non-stop Sonar Bangla Express running on the Dhaka-Chattogram route, aiming to provide safer and more comfortable travel during the Eid holiday rush.

Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain inaugurated the initiative on Monday by seeing off female passengers aboard the special coach of the Jayantika Express at Kamalapur Railway Station.

According to the BNP Media Cell, the special arrangement began on Monday and will remain in operation until Wednesday ahead of Eid.
