A tourist bus of “Himachal Paribahan” from Noakhali was heading towards Cox’s Bazar while another bus of “Evergreen Paribahan” was coming from the opposite direction.
The accident occurred when the two buses collided head-on upon reaching the Indrapul roundabout, leaving 21 passengers injured.
On information, members of the Highway Police rushed to the scene and rescued the injured passengers.
Officer in-Charge Harunur Rashid of Patiya Crossing Highway Police Station said that the accident might have occurred since the driver of the Cox’s Bazar-bound bus was new to the route and lost control after failing to understand the directions at the roundabout, leading to the accident.
Police have seized both buses from the spot, he added.
