Staff Reporter:
The government has begun the process of importing fuel oil from three countries to tackle the ongoing energy crisis, said Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani.
Speaking at a press conference after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the National Parliament House on Thursday, Ghani identified the three countries as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Kazakhstan.
He explained that due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, oil supply lines have become somewhat insecure, prompting the government to seek alternative sources.
Ghani added that the government continues to provide subsidies in the energy sector to ease the burden on the public and is making maximum efforts to manage the situation.
