Two more fuel ships arrive at Ctg port

Staff Reporter:

Fuel handling operations at Chattogram port are continuing smoothly, with two more fuel-laden vessels set to enhance the ongoing supply chain.

The vessels, ‘Chang Hang Hong Tu’ and ‘LPG Seven’, are currently in the process of discharging cargo and are expected to complete their operations by Wednesday and Friday respectively, helping ensure a steady fuel supply across the country.

‘Chang Hang Hong Tu’, carrying gas oil from Malaysia, reached the port on 15 March and is now stationed at Bravo Mooring. The vessel has already unloaded about 5,000 metric tons of fuel, with full discharge likely to be completed by 19 March.

Meanwhile, ‘LPG Seven’, which arrived on 8 March with a consignment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Oman, is anchored in the Kutubdia area. It has so far discharged around 7,020 metric tons of LPG, with unloading expected to conclude by 20 March before its scheduled departure on Friday.

Officials said a total of 28 fuel-carrying ships have recently called at the port, most of which have already completed unloading and departed.

These vessels transported various types of fuel, including LNG, LPG, crude oil, gas oil, high sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) and base oil, from countries such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Malaysia, Oman and India.

Several more vessels are currently en route from Qatar, Australia, Singapore, Angola, Thailand and Oman, carrying LNG, HSFO, LPG and base oil.

Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Refayat Hamim said all necessary measures have been taken to ensure uninterrupted unloading and distribution of fuel, adding that the continued arrival of vessels would help stabilise the national fuel supply.
