Eid return train ticket sales begin 13 March

Staff Reporter:

Bangladesh Railway will start selling advance train tickets for return journeys after Eid-ul-Fitr on 13 March to facilitate holidaymakers travelling back to their workplaces.

Passengers will get tickets for journeys on 23 March on the first day of sales. As in previous years, the railway will sell advance tickets for intercity trains for seven days under a special arrangement.

Bangladesh Railway will sell all tickets online to ensure convenience for passengers.

Ticket sales will begin at 8am for seats on all intercity trains operating in the railway’s western region. The railway will start selling advance tickets for intercity trains in the eastern region at 2pm the same day.

Authorities took the decision at a preparatory meeting on special train services for Eid-ul-Fitr held recently at the Rail Bhaban in the capital.

Under the schedule, the railway will sell tickets for 23 March journeys on 13 March, 24 March journeys on 14 March, 25 March journeys on 15 March, 26 March journeys on 16 March, 27 March journeys on 17 March, 28 March journeys on 18 March, and 29 March journeys on 19 March.

Officials also decided to sell tickets for 20, 21 and 22 March journeys later, depending on the sighting of the moon for Eid.

Passengers will also be able to collect standing tickets for 25% of non-AC coach capacity from the originating stations before departure on request.

A passenger may buy advance tickets only once and may purchase a maximum of four seats. Bangladesh Railway will not refund these tickets.
