Staff Reporter:
The government has instructed the authorities concerned to conduct mobile courts across the country to ensure smooth fuel supply and maintain discipline in the market.
A letter containing the directive has been issued to the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all districts, of-ficial sources said yesterday.
According to the directive, the move aims to prevent artificial shortages in the fuel market, stop illegal hoarding and curb the sale of fuel at prices higher than the government-fixed rate.
The directive also called for stronger monitoring to prevent open market sales of fuel oil and curb smug-gling. District administrations have been requested to conduct mobile court drives for this purpose.
The Cabinet Division said the initiative was taken following a request from the Energy and Mineral Re-sources Ministry.
Earlier, the ministry sent a letter requesting district administrations to operate mobile courts to prevent illegal stockpiling, overpricing and smuggling of fuel oil.
