Chief Whip, Whips briefed on Jatiya Sangsad activities

A special meeting was held yesterday at the Cabinet Room of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat to brief the Chief Whip and Whips on the activities of the Bangladesh Jatiya Sangsad and its Secretariat.
Chief Whip of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, Md. Nurul Islam, MP (Barguna-2) chaired the meeting.
The Whips present were- Alhaj Md. G.K. Gaus, MP (Habiganj-3), Rokibul Islam, MP (Khulna-3), Mia Nuruddin Ahmed Apu, MP (Shariatpur-3), M. Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu, MP (Natore-2), Md. Akh-taruzzaman Mia, MP (Dinajpur-4), and A.B.M. Ashraf Uddin (Nizan), MP (Lakshmipur-4).
Respective senior officials of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat concerned also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, detailed presentations were made on the conduct of parliamentary sessions, the question-answer session, introduction and passage of bills, committee activities, administrative and technical sup-port for Members of Parliament, expansion of digital services, and the overall administrative structure of the Secretariat.
The Secretariat informed that efforts are being intensified to strengthen modern, information technolo-gy-based management systems to make parliamentary activities more dynamic and effective.
Chief Whip stressed the coordinated role of the Whips in ensuring the smooth and effective conduct of parliamentary business. He said, “Parliamentary activities must be made effective, transparent and ac-countable to strengthen democratic practices. The professionalism and efficiency of the Secretariat would play a vital role in this regard.”
The Whips present also underscored the importance of enhancing mutual coordination in running the House, maintaining punctuality, and adhering to the Rules of Procedure.
