Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on his party’s “remarkable victory” in the Bangladesh national election following a phone conversation between the two leaders.
In a statement shared after the discussion, the Indian prime minister said he was delighted to speak with Tarique and extended his congratulations on the electoral success.
Modi conveyed his best wishes and expressed India’s support for efforts to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh.
Highlighting the close relationship between the two neighbouring countries, Modi noted the deep-rooted historical and cultural ties that bind India and Bangladesh.
He reaffirmed India’s continued commitment to ensuring peace, progress, and prosperity for the peoples of both nations.
