‘I feel very happy having cast my ballot’

Staff Reporter:

A 60-year-old woman, Beauty Das, arrived at the Chattogram Railway Employees’ Girls’ High School polling centre on Thursday morning to cast her vote, accompanied by her ten-year-old granddaughter, Snigdha.

She arrived around 9:00am and expressed delight at the peaceful voting environment.

Speaking to reporters, Das said, “Voting gives me peace. I cannot walk properly, so I brought my granddaughter to assist me. Despite my family’s advice against it, I wanted to vote. I feel very happy having cast my ballot.”

Snigdha added, “My grandmother is unwell, so I brought her to the polling centre.”

The polling station, designated for female voters, has seen a strong turnout of women since the morning, with many arriving to exercise their right to vote.

Das’s visit reflects the enthusiasm of older and female voters participating in the election.

The Chattogram Railway Employees’ Girls’ High School polling centre has 3,839 registered voters. A notable number of voters were present at the centre from early morning.

Presiding Officer Mithu Bhaumik said that voting has been proceeding peacefully since the start of the day.
