Staff Reporter:
After a two-day suspension of their work stoppage, the Chattogram Port Protection Movement Council has announced an indefinite all-out strike at the port.
The announcement was made on Saturday at a press conference held at the Chattogram Press Club by Ibrahim Khokon, coordinator of the council.
He said that although some port operations continued at certain locations during the previous six-day work stoppage, no employee will take part in any port-related activities from tomorrow as part of the renewed strike.
According to the organisers, the indefinite strike will be observed across the entire port, including the outer anchorage and jetties, bringing all activities to a complete halt.
The protesters said the decision was taken after discussions among the movement leaders, as their demands remain unmet.
