Army chief visits Cox’s Bazar, Sylhet to review security

Staff Reporter:

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman on Thursday visited Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet areas to review the overall law-and-order situation and inspect personnel deployed in aid to the civil power ahead of the 13th parliamentary election.

During the visits, he observed the activities of the deployed troops on the ground, provided necessary directives and exchanged views with the civil administration to ensure effective coordination in maintaining security.

In Cox’s Bazar, General Waker attended a coordination meeting at the BIAM Foundation regional centre, where he held discussions with senior military officials, local administration, and representatives of various law enforcement agencies.

A similar meeting was later held at the Sylhet deputy commissioner’s office.

The meetings focused on inter-agency coordination and comprehensive security management aimed at ensuring that the upcoming national election is held in a peaceful, free and fair manner.

The Army chief emphasised the importance of professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience and citizen-friendly conduct while performing duties.
