The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in a directive, urged all concerned to avoid Fireworks, lanterns and crackers on the occasion of New Year, start of the Gregorian calendar year.
“The fireworks, lanterns and crackers on the occasion of New Year (English) cause air pollution, noise pollution, fires and bird deaths,” a directive issued from the ministry this noon, ahead of the December 31 celebration slated for today.
These directives should be followed cordially to protect the environment and public health as well, the release added.
