Voting for the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JNUCSU) and hall union elections will be held at a total of 39 polling centres, officials said on Thursday.
Prof Mostafa Hasan, chief election commissioner of JNUCSU, confirmed the information on Thursday.
He said that 38 polling centers have been designated for the central students’ union, while one center has been set for the hall union elections.
There will be one voting booth for every 100 students, and the votes will be counted using machines, he added.
Regarding security, the chief election commissioner said that meetings have already been held with the Ministry of Home Affairs, and discussions have also taken place with the local police and the university’s Proctor’s Office.
“We hope the election will be held in a peaceful and fair manner overall,” he said.
Explaining who will be allowed to enter the polling centers on election day, he said that authorized persons, voters, teachers, and individuals specially approved for election duties will be permitted entry. All such individuals must carry designated identity cards.
Details regarding the collection of these cards will be announced through a notice on the official website, he added.
