In a statement issued on Thursday, Tarique said that countless people gathered along the route from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to the highway popularly known as the “300 Feet Road” to welcome him home.
The historic and unparalleled turnout, he noted, turned the capital Dhaka into a sea of people.
He conveyed his sincere appreciation to the citizens who came forward to greet him, as well as to leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), its affiliated and associate organisations, and various other political parties and professional bodies from Dhaka and across the country, said a press release.
Tarique also expressed his gratitude to the Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police, and other security and law enforcement agencies for carrying out their duties responsibly and ensuring that the reception program was conducted in an orderly manner.
In addition, he thanked all journalists and media professionals who were on duty during the reception event for their role in covering the occasion.
The BNP leader concluded by acknowledging the collective efforts that made the event peaceful, disciplined, and memorable.
