Staff Reporter:
The Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Prof Ali Riaz has been appointed as the chief coordinator of the government’s voting awareness raising activities.
The Chief Adviser’s Office confirmed the appointment in an order issued Wednesday.
The interim government has taken an elaborate and potentially unprecedented plan to encourage the general people to vote in the 13th parliamentary elections slated for 12 February. The awareness campaign would also urge people to support a series of state reform measures with a “yes” vote in the referendum due to be held on the same date.
The government has already launched 10 “special caravans” to conduct the awareness campaigns across 300 upazilas.
Since the interim government assumed power in August last year, it has appointed Ali Riaz is multiple crucial positions. He has served as the chief of the Constitution Reform Commission, Vice President of the National Consensus Commission and is now serving as the special assistant to the chief adviser.
It is worth noting that Ali Riaz is a distinguished professor of political science at the Illinois State University in the US.
