Failure to arrest killers is shameful: Hadi’s elder brother

Staff Reporter:

Abu Bakar Siddique, the elder brother of Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, convener of the Inqilab Moncho, on Saturday said it was a matter of shame for the state that the killers had not been arrested even seven to eight days after the murder.

Speaking briefly before the janaza at Manik Mia Avenue, he told the crowd, “You are lakhs in number—today, you are all Hadi. He was the youngest among six siblings. And today, we are carrying his body.”

Expressing anger over the progress of the investigation, Abu Bakar Siddique said, “Seven or eight days have passed, yet nothing has been done. If the killers get away, if they manage to cross the border, it will be an utter disgrace for us.”

He said Hadi always spoke of justice, resistance and a society rooted in revolutionary values. Even at the time of his child’s birth, Hadi had asked that the name reflect a spirit of resistance. “Today, we cannot even look at his child,” he said, adding that the baby is only eight months old.

“We have no demands of our own,” he said. “Hadi longed for martyrdom—perhaps Allah has accepted that wish. But I will not let this go. Justice must be delivered on this soil of Bengal.”

In his closing remarks, Abu Bakar Siddique sought prayers for the family and said, “Hadi, you have not died. You have left us restless. May Allah accept you.”
