Tangail: Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr Bidhan Ranjan Roy Poddar yesterday said nearly 32,000 headmaster posts are vacant in primary schools in the country, which is creating a major obstacle in school management.
He told reporters after inaugurating the newly constructed playground of Bagbari Choubari Gov-ernment Primary School in Katuli Union of Tangail Sadar Upazila.
The adviser said that a large-scale teacher recruitment notice has already been published to address the teacher crisis.
He expressed hope that this will make the primary education system in the country more dynam-ic.
Dr Bidhan said that schools cannot be closed in uncertain situations like an earthquake. Earth-quakes can happen at any time, so it is not panic but caution and preparation that is most im-portant now, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, Tangail Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahin Mia and offi-cials from various departments were present at the event.
