The revised results of the 44th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination have been published, recommending 1,681 candidates for appointment to various cadre positions by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC).
On Thursday, the result was published on the BPSC website and signed by Masuma Afrin, controller of examinations (cadre) of the PSC.
Earlier, the results of the 44th BCS were published on 30 June, and the PSC recommended 1,690 candidates for numerous cadre posts, and the same individual was recommended for the same cadre post, which sparked criticism.
Later, the PSC took the initiative to amend the regulations, and the result was published in accordance with Rule 17 of the amended Bangladesh Civil Service (age, qualification, and direct recruitment examination) Rules, 2014.
In the meantime, 303 individuals submitted written statements declaring that they would not join the same cadre post they are currently employed in or any post of lower rank.
According to the circular, among the 330 applicants, 260 have been withheld from recommendation, and 43 qualified candidates have been nominated for higher-preference cadre posts compared to their current ones.
Additionally, to fill the resulting vacancies, 257 new candidates have been selected and nominated based on merit.
