UAE has not announced visa ban on Bangladeshis: Ambassador

Staff Reporter:

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has not issued any official announcement regarding a ban on labor or travel visas for Bangladeshi nationals, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to the UAE Tariq Ahmed has confirmed.

Speaking to the media, the envoy clarified that the reports circulating online were based on information from a website that is not affiliated with the UAE government.

Rumors of a visa suspension for citizens of nine countries, including Bangladesh, were published on 17 September by a site called UAE Visa Online. The story was subsequently picked up by several Bangladeshi outlets and went viral on social media.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Abu Dhabi stated that it would raise the matter with the UAE authorities after the weekend. The mission urged Bangladeshi citizens not to believe or spread unverified rumors until an official statement is issued by the Emirati government.
