Six more people died from dengue and 647 others were hospitalised across the country in the 24 hours till Thursday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest deaths raised this year’s toll to 167. Of them, two were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, two in Dhaka South, one in Barishal division and one in Chattogram division.
During the same period, 647 new patients were admitted, taking the total cases to 38,527 this year. Of them, 113 were reported in Dhaka North City Corporation, 128 in Dhaka South, 102 in Dhaka division (outside city corporation), 108 in Barishal division, 96 in Chattogram division, 25 in Mymensingh division, 37 in Khulna division and 38 in Rajshahi division.
At present, 717 patients are receiving treatment in Dhaka hospitals, while 2,042 are under treatment nationwide. DGHS data show that 62.6% of the patients are men and 37.4% women.
Last year, dengue claimed 575 lives in Bangladesh. A total of 101,214 cases and 100,040 recoveries were recorded during the same period.
