The Election Commission (EC) Secretariat has transferred 61 officials as part of an administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming 13th parliamentary election.
Assistant Secretary of the EC Secretariat Mohammad Shahidur Rahman issued three separate notifications regarding the transfers on Thursday.
According to the office orders, 49 officials from both the EC Secretariat and field level have been transferred until further notice. In two separate orders, 12 more officials have been reassigned to the positions of regional election officers and deputy secretaries, bringing the total number of transferred senior officials to 61.
The orders state that all transferred officials must be released from their current postings by 18 September.
EC officials have indicated that more transfer orders are likely in the coming weeks, particularly for those who were involved in the 2024 parliamentary election.
Earlier, on 31 July, the EC had issued transfer orders for 52 officials.
