Home Adviser’s remark on Durga Puja condemned

The Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad yesterday strongly condemned and protested the remark made by the Home Adviser about what the Parishad said demeaning Durga Puja.
In a statement issued by the Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad, it said the adviser’s comment not only hurt the religious sentiment of the Hindu community but also portrayed him as a ‘communal fig-ure’ in the public eye.
The Parishad demanded that the adviser immediately withdraw his ‘undesirable and unwanted’ state-ment.
The statement said that there is no connection whatsoever between Durga Puja or any Hindu religious rituals and the use of substances such as drugs or alcohol, said the statement.
