11 cops suspended for providing undue privileges to Matiur

A sub-inspector (SI) and 10 constables have been temporarily suspended for allegedly providing undue privileges to former NBR official Matiur Rahman while escorting him from court to jail.

The suspension order was issued on Saturday.

The suspended policemen are SI Abul Kashem and constables Moniruzzaman, Md Kabir Hossain, Imran, Nirjon Khan, Shamim Alam, Roni Hossain, Shariful Islam, Tanvir Rahman, Abu Sayeed Mia, and Rabindra Das.

Confirming the matter, Kishoreganj Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Hasan Chowdhury told journalists that action was taken against the policemen based on specific allegations.

“An investigation is underway. If anyone commits wrongdoing, we are taking action,” he added.
