The Election Commission (EC) finalised the delimitation of 300 parliamentary constituencies ahead of 13th National Election on Thursday after scrapping a seat in Bagerhat and adding a seat in Gazipur.
Election Commission Secretary Akhtar Ahmed announced the publication of the final list of parliamentary constituencies. He said this notification will be published in the gazette.
On 30 July, the EC issued a circular revising the boundaries of 39 constituencies with minor adjustments and added a seat in Gazipur and scrapped one in Bagerhat, while boundaries for 261 seats remain unchanged.
The hearings on the objections regarding the draft boundary delimitation were held between 24 and 27 August at the EC Secretariat in the capital. The final decision on the gadget was published after reviewing the hearing appeal.
Meanwhile, Budhanti and Chandura unions of Bijoynagar upazila were added to the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency, which includes Sarail and Ashuganj upazilas.
Additionally, the EC finalised the boundaries of Brahmanbaria-3 constituency, which now comprises Brahmanbaria Sadar upazila and the unions of Ichhapur, Champaknagar, Patton Dakshin Singarbil, Bishnupur, Char Islampur, Paharpur, and Harashpur of Bijoynagar upazila.
Earlier, Bagerhat had four constituencies: Bagerhat-1 (Mollahat-Fakirhat-Chitalmari), Bagerhat-2 (Bagerhat Sadar and Kachua), Bagerhat-3 (Rampal and Mongla), and Bagerhat-4 (Morrelganj and Sarankhola).
