The maritime ports of the country have been advised to hoist local cautionary signal no. three (R) three as the low pressure area over Northwest Bay and adjoining area intensified into a well-marked low over the same area at 6am on Wednesday
Now it lies over Northwest Bay off North Odisha coast and adjoining area, according to the latest Met office bulletin.
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice
It is likely to move west-northwestwards.
The axis of monsoon troughs runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the centre of well-marked low to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong over North Bay, it added.
The Met office also forecast light to moderate rain/thunder showers today.
Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
