Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) will take strict legal action against members of the banned Awami League, its affiliated organisations, and the outlawed Chhatra League if they attempt any offences linked to 15 August 15, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sajjat Ali warned on Thursday.
“They will not be allowed on the streets under any circumstances,” the commissioner said, adding that all law enforcement and intelligence agencies remain on high alert to ensure security.
Over the past 24 hours, the Detective Branch (DB) conducted raids across the capital, arresting 13 leaders and activists from the banned political outfits, including central, district, and local-level figures.
Police confirmed that all detainees are now facing legal proceedings.
