Staff Reporter:

The interim government’s Council of Advisers on Thursday annulled a directive that required public servants to address female government officials as “Sir.”

The decision was taken at the 33rd meeting of the advisory council held earlier in the day, according to a statement from the Chief Adviser’s Press Wing.

The council also formed a committee to review other protocol directives issued by the previous government’s cabinet.

The committee comprises Energy, Road and Railway Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan and Environment and Water Resources Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan.

They have been tasked with recommending necessary amendments within a month for the council’s consideration.
