Jubo Dal activist shot dead in Chattogram

Staff Reporter:

A Jubo Dal activist was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Raozan upazila of Chattogram on Sunday.

The victim, Md Selim, 42, was returning home with his family when he was attacked in the Ishan Bhattar area under Kodalpur union around 12:00 pm, police sources said.

Quoting locals, police said a group of assailants wearing burqas arrived on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, shot Selim in the head, and fled the scene. He was taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physicians declared him dead.

Selim, a resident of Shamsher Para in Ward No. 7 of Kodalpur, was known to be a follower of BNP Vice Chairman and former MP Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury.

Monirul Islam Bhuiyan, officer-in-charge of Raozan Police Station, said the body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

“We are investigating the incident and will take legal action accordingly,” he added.
