Police disperse PSC reform protesters from Shahbagh

Staff Reporter:

Police have dispersed students and job seekers, demanding reforms in the PSC, from the Shahbagh intersection.

After a brief clash, which caused no injuries to either side, the protesters moved to the Raju Sculpture of Dhaka University. They announced their protest will continue until their demands are met.

Salehin Sion, a former student of BUET and an organizer of the protest, said, “We were marching peacefully toward Raju Sculpture, and the police suddenly started pushing us from behind. That’s when the clash erupted.”

Earlier, in the afternoon, the protesters, under the banner of Chhatra Shamabesh, blocked the Shahbagh intersection, demanding reforms in PSC and reevaluation of 44th BCS exam results.

The claimed that it is an “open secret” that the questions of 44th-46th BCS exams were leaked. Questions of many more government job recruitment exams were leaked during the corrupt Awami League regime, they alleged.

However, the current “weak government” has so far failed to dismantle the “group of leakers,” despite the fall of Awami League government on 5 August last year, they alleged.
