3 members of a family fall sick at hotel, dead

Three members of a family, who fell sick this morning at a hotel in Dhaka’s Moghbazar area, was later declared dead after being taken to hospital.
The deceased were identified as Monir Hossain, an expatriate worker, his wife Swapna and their son Ar-afat Hossain Nayeem.
Officer in charge of Ramna police station Gulam Faruque said Monir along with his family members came to Dhaka from his village home Ramgonj upazila in Laxnipur district on Saturday afternoon for medical consultations. They tried to get Prof Dr Din Muhammad’s appointment in his Eskaton Road Hospital, he said quoting relatives of the victims.
As they did not get appointment on Saturday, they were staying overnight at a residential hotel named “Hotel Sweet Sleep” near Moghbazar intersection to get appointment for Sunday.
The OC further said that the trio suddenly fell sick in the morning with vomiting. At one stage, Monir called his uncle named Rafiqul Islam over phone.
Later, his uncle came to the hotel at around 11:00am and then rushed them to nearby Al Din hospital where the doctors declared them dead, the OC added.
Police suspected that they might have died due to food poisoning. However, actual cause will be deter-mine after getting post mortem report.
The bodies will be sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy.
OC also said CCTV footage of the hotel has been scrutinized as well as investigation is on to find out if any other reason behind the tragic deaths, he added.
