Staff Reporter:

The government on Thursday extended the magistracy powers of the armed forces by two months or 60 days for the fourth time in a row. The latest extension order would be effective from 14 May.

The government first introduced the measure on 17 September last year, and has extended the power since then by two months on 15 November, 12 January and 13 March.

On Thursday, a notification from the Public Administration Ministry said armed forces officers holding the ranks of an army captain and above can take actions against criminal offences.
