Allover huge protests of condemnation in capital Dhaka and other parts of the country held yesterday against the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza.
The demonstrators of spontaneous people from all walks, especially students, demanded an immediate end to Israeli “barbarity” against Palestinians.
Students from various educational institutions, especially universities, joined the protests in large num-bers.
Regular academic activities including classes and exams were closed as students rallied in solidarity with Palestine.
In the capital, students from Dhaka University and several schools and colleges gathered near the Raju Memorial Sculpture and Aparajeyo Bangla around 11:30 am.
Holding placards reading “Boycott Israel,” “Free Palestine” the demonstrators chanted slogans against Israeli aggression and Western support for the ongoing assault.
In Bashundhara Residential Area, students from several private universities—including North South University (NSU), Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), and United International University (UIU)- took to the streets around 12 pm in pro-test.
In Mirpur 10 Gol Chattar area, thousands of protesters staged demonstration with placards reading ‘Stop genocide in Gaza, Save the innocent’, Why world’s Muslims silent?’, Free Palestine’ and chanting vari-ous anti-Israel slogans.
According to reports received from correspondents across the country, similar demonstrations and gath-erings were held in other districts to protest the Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Classes and examinations at various educational institutions across Bangladesh were suspended on Mon-day in solidarity with the Palestinian people, amid ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza.
Dhaka University, Jahangirnagar University, and several other institutions, including North South Uni-versity, Independent University, Bangladesh, BRAC University, and East West University, had officially announced on Sunday that all academic activities would remain suspended for the day in protest against Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on civilians in Gaza.
In response to a global strike titled “The world stops for Gaza: no work no school until the genocide stops”, observed on April 7, 2025, Dhaka University students announced on Sunday that all academic activities would be suspended on Monday to show solidarity with the people of Gaza.
A notice issued by Dhaka University authorities on Sunday stated that all classes and examinations would remain suspended, and university offices would be closed from 9am to 11am.
