The MPO committee of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (DSE) has decided to enrol 1,487 newly recruited teachers and employees in private schools and colleges across the country.
Among them, 1,204 are school teachers, and 283 are college teachers.
Additionally, the committee has decided to grant a higher pay scale to 1,663 individuals and a B.Ed. scale to 1,041 school teachers.
These decisions were made during the March MPO (Government Part of Salary and Allowance) committee meeting of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education (DSE) on Wednesday.
The meeting, chaired by DSE Director General Prof. Muhammad Azad Khan, was attended by concerned officials from the Ministry of Education, along with nine regional directors and deputy directors of the DSE.
According to DSE sources, among the 1,204 teachers and employees of private schools, 68 are from the Barisal region, 32 from Chittagong, 25 from Comilla, 450 from Dhaka, 237 from Khulna, 86 from Mymensingh, 69 from Rajshahi, 228 from Rangpur, and 9 from Sylhet.
Among the 283 teachers and employees of colleges, 53 are from the Barisal region, 5 from Chittagong, 13 from Comilla, 34 from Dhaka, 14 from Khulna, 53 from Mymensingh, 55 from Rajshahi, 42 from Rangpur, and 14 from Sylhet.
According to DSE sources, teachers and employees recruited in the past few months applied online for MPO enrolment.
After reviewing their applications, the committee decided to enrol these teachers and employees in the MPO. As per regulations, MPO committee meetings are held at DSE every two months.
Earlier on 12 January, a total of 3,206 teachers and employees were enrolled in the MPO.
