Eid journey: Advance bus, train tickets to be sold from 14 March

Staff Reporter:

The advance bus and train tickets will be available for purchase starting from 14 March ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, which is likely to be observed on 1 April, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Bangladesh Bus-Truck Owners’ Association took the decision during a preparatory meeting to ensure a smoother Eid journey for homegoers this year.

Bus tickets for a total of seven days before the Eid day will be sold in advance from 14 March, according to the decision.

Home-bound passengers will be able to purchase tickets both online and at the counters of all bus services.

During the meeting held on Thursday, Shubhankar Ghosh Rakesh, general secretary of the association, asked all bus operators not to realise extra fare from the passengers, ignoring the government fixed rate.

He said monitoring teams formed by the owners’ association will remain active at all counters in and around the capital Dhaka and elsewhere in the country to thwart any possible criminal attempt.

Meanwhile, he said they have planned to capture video footage of the night coaches for security reasons.

Besides, the railway authority has taken a decision to begin selling advance train tickets from 14 March and it will continue till 20 March and the holidaymakers could buy the tickets for 24 and 30 March
