The body of a Chinese man was found at his residence at Road No 16, Uttara Sector-14 in the capital on Thursday evening.
The body of Wang Ho, 38, was bloodied and bore 11 wounds from stabbing. He was likely killed 14-15 hours prior to the discovery of his corpse, said Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Mahfuzur Rahman.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been called to assist in the murder probe.
CCTV footage of the building showed at least two other Chinese nationals entering the house with Wang Ho. They left shortly afterwards, and have likely fled the country by now, said Saddam Hossain, Assistant Police Commissioner of Uttara Zone.
Police claimed Wang Ho rented the house a month ago. He lived in the apartment with his colleagues, including his Chinese partner in a stone business. Wang Ho was engaged in the business in Bangladesh for nine years.
Upon the death of his father, he had recently gone to China. He returned to Bangladesh on 18 February, and was killed within two days.
