BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia who is now undergoing treatment in London may return home after Eid-ul-Fitr.
MA Malek, president of the UK unit BNP and adviser to the party chairperson, made the announcement on Wednesday evening (London time).
“All of you should pray for her. She is doing much better than before with the prayers of the countrymen,” he said.
Malek said the BNP chief is now spending a wonderful time at home with her beloved son Tarique Rahman, daughters-in-law Zubaida Rahman and Sharmila Rahman, wife of Khaleda Zia’s late son Arafat Rahman Koko, and three granddaughters Zaima Rahman, Zahia Rahman, and Zafia Rahman. They are all by her side.
“We, the UK BNP team, are by his side. Alhamdulillah, she is mentally very relaxed. We have requested her to spend at least this Eid [Eid-ul-Fitr] with us. We hope that if she keeps his word, she will return to Bangladesh after Eid. She is much better than before.”
The BNP leader alleged that deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina tried to kill Khaleda Zia with slow poisoning.
“Hasina’s plan was not implemented. When Hasina came to London, she announced the assassination of Khaleda Zia,” he added.
On 8 January, Khaleda Zia travelled to London for advanced medical treatment.
