STOCKHOLM, Oct 29, 2026 (Net) – Sweden’s parliamentary speaker said Thursday that he would ask MPs to vote next week on whether to make Centre Party leader Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist prime minister, even though she would likely fail.
Speaker Andreas Norlen said that even though Thand Ringqvist earlier this week said she had failed to unite left and right wing parties he wished to move the process forward, and would therefore “as a conclusion to Elisabeth Thand Ringqvist’s exploratory assignment, proceed to hold a vote” with her as the candidate with a vote scheduled for Tuesday.
