Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman has said people should be united for the greater interest even if they have differences of opinion on various issues.
“If everyone had the same opinion on everything, the world would be a most boring place. Due to differences of opinion, the country has witnessed various changes. Therefore, even if everyone has opinion differences, they should be united for the sake of the country.”
Dr Iftekharuzzaman, also the head of the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, was speaking at the closing ceremony of the three-day “Workshop on Data Journalism” organised by TIB at BRAC BCDM in Gazipur on Saturday.
Journalists from 25 media houses participated in the programme.
“The work of journalists is always challenging. However, there is scope for working now compared to before,” said the TIB executive director.
“If we try to stay united in the professional space, we will be able to prevent corruption. TIB will also continue to stand by journalists in future for this purpose.”
Besides, he said, TIB will continue to support the promotion and practice of data journalism in the country.
