Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman has said that the Awami League has met its political death as its leaders set the worst example by fleeing the country.
“We have expected that it will take a fresh pledge of not indulging in misdeeds but it fled the country accepting its total failure. There is a proverb that black will take no other hue,” he said while addressing a rally held at Sylhet Government Alia Madrasa ground on Friday.
Citing the repressive acts of the ousted Awami League government, the Jamaat leader expressed his optimism to build a country where mosques, temples, churches and pagodas do not have to be guarded for security.
Md Joynal Abedin, general secretary of the district unit of Jamaat and Prof Nazrul Islam, its joint secretary general also spoke at the rally, among others.
